Published on December 3, 2010

On December 3, 2010 MFTransparency launched the Transparent Pricing Initiative in Uganda with a workshop in Kampala. Uganda is the second country that MFTransparency will be working with in the MasterCard Foundation-funded enabling APR & EIR Program

The workshop was co-hosted with the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda (AMFIU). Two additional workshops will be held in Mbarara and Gulu on December 6 and 8, respectively.

In this workshop MFTransparency provided training on pricing transparency to a range of local industry stakeholders including microfinance institutions, regulators, funders and other support organizations.

The main objective of the enabling APR & EIR Program is to promote improved consumer protection principles through microfinance product pricing transparency. At the launch workshop MFTransparency presented on various topics including the implementation of pricing transparency in the Ugandan microfinance industry, and consumer protection, consumer education and financial literacy.
