Provide Objective and Verifiable Information

Collect, calculate, and present information on credit products and their prices in a clear and consistent fashion so that communication is enhanced between suppliers and consumers of microcredit products, as well as for other stakeholders.

To do so globally is an ambitious task. With sufficient funding, we plan to gather information on 5,000 MFIs operating in over 75 countries around the globe. With each MFI offering an average of three credit products, we expect to collect and report pricing information on 15,000 microcredit products!

Educate Stakeholders

Develop and disseminate straightforward educational material to enable all microfinance stakeholders to better understand the concept and function of interest rates and product pricing.

An important part of MFTransparency’s role is education. With a more educated industry and public on issues surrounding interest rates and pricing we will be able to respond more consistently and clearly to unfair and misinformed criticism towards microfinance.
